The Story

Miko Hytönen receiving his black belt

Before jiu-jitsu, there was wrestling. Miko grew up in Finland and started Greco-Roman wrestling at a very young age, competing for several years — the discipline that would carry straight into BJJ.

That base fed into a full-time life on the mat, one that eventually took him from Finland to Costa del Sol, Spain, where he's based today, training, competing, and building the Chokes and More community.

These days his focus is teaching — staying a student himself, always chasing new techniques alongside the people he trains, and open to private lessons and seminars wherever they're wanted. Recent trips have taken him to India, England, Latvia, Finland, and Serbia, working with national teams and running private sessions along the way.

The Podcast

Chokes And More Podcast

Miko invites the people he trains with onto the mic — because jiu-jitsu brings singular people to the mat: entrepreneurs, champions, and everyone in between, each with a story worth hearing. Episode 1 starts close to home, with his teacher and friend Santeri Lilius — a black belt under Roger Gracie, founder of Scramble Academy in Málaga, and an ADCC European Trials and IBJJF European No-Gi Open champion.
